The founder of the Journey To The Bestseller project is me, Lily Stuart (that is a pseudonym).

Being an avid daydreamer from an early age, I have always found solace in storytelling. What began as childhood escapism and a way to silence the constant buzzing noise in my head, soon transformed into creative expression. Over the years, I have crafted stories that explore love, identity, and the intricacies of human relationships.

I write primarily historical fiction and romance (sometimes a combination of both). Right now, my main focus is a historical romance novel set in a small town in Victorian England, where love challenges class divisions, and the lives of people from different backgrounds intertwine. I’m also writing a YA coming-of-age novel about self-discovery and first love. Additionally, I have a long-standing fantasy project that I’ve spent over a decade developing, though it’s currently on hiatus while I focus on my historical work. 

Inspired by classic literature, I draw influence from authors like Dickens, Hardy, and the Brontës, balancing historical elements with the emotional depth found in modern romance. I love writing character-driven stories where readers can truly connect with the characters—where they don’t just observe their struggles and triumphs but feel as though they’ve lived them. In my historical fiction novel, I aim to include diverse characters often overlooked in period literature while exploring the customs and behaviours of the time to keep to historical accuracy. My writing style is simple yet expressive—I enjoy crafting beautiful metaphors and unexpected phrasing to make my voice unique.

Outside of writing, I enjoy painting and watching romance films and series. I consider myself well-versed in romantic fiction, and I love exploring the many ways love and relationships can be portrayed in storytelling.
